Nearly twice the size of Central Park, the 1,347-acre Orange County Great Park is an expansive 21st-century metropolitan park, as well as the focal point for the redevelopment of the former 4,700-acre El Toro Marine Corps Air Station. In 2001, Orange County voters authorized the former air station’s use as a central park/nature preserve and multi-use development. Owned by the City of Irvine, the Great Park is an arts and sports recreational hub and continues its evolution as it attracts visitors to its ongoing and growing amenities.
